Lon Murray was the initial magazine's editor of The Shadow Magazine when it was launched in 1931. In March of '32, he would be replaced by John Nanovic, who was originally the assistant editor to the magazine.
Murry was good friends with Walter B. Gibson and it is through their friendship that Gibson was able to meet Editor-In-Chief, Frank Blackwell. In turn, Gibson and Blackwell would create The Shadow and introduce the character in print form in April of 1931.
