This is the Kent Allard disambiguation page.

Shadow Magazine Vol 1 131

A major difference between the pulp and radio characterizations of The Shadow is their identity. On the radio, The Shadow was Lamont Cranston. In the pulps, The Shadow was Kent Allard, a world-famous aviator.

In the pulp novels, Kent Allard was given up for dead when he became lost after his last flight to South America. In reality, he's been in New York the whole time, fighting crime as The Shadow.

What might be confusing to casual readers is that there is a person named Lamont Cranston in the pulps too. He's a wealthy world-traveler, and Kent Allard often impersonates him as his own secret identity when the real Cranston is out of the country. In the later years of the pulps, the real Lamont Cranston was rarely mentioned.

Kent Allard as The Shadow, was created by Walter B. Gibson, first appearing in Shadow Magazine #1 (1931).
