George H. Wert was a freelance illustrator who sold several of his drawings to pulp magazines from 1924 until World War II. He's remembered as one of the top pen and ink "interior" artist in Western pulp magazines. He was the first artist to work on the inside pages of The Shadow Magazine, depicting the mysterious sleuth in a black cloak and hat.
